Wrath of the Lich King

So, those of us who play World of Warcraft know its coming. The Wrath of the Lich King expansion. I know its on its way…coming for us. It teases us, with its promises of newness, new classes, new talents.

Before it comes, there is patch 2.4 of course, with its Sunwell instances. Myself, I am back and leveling a Tauren Shaman. He is 54 at the moment, and I am really enjoying it. Much more then I ever enjoyed my Warrior truth be told.

No, I am not gonna tell you his name, or server, or any of that nonsense.

However, Wrath of the Lich King seems to be another step towards the end of WoW. When I say end, I mean the end of the storyline. Its Arthas. Big bad Arthas. And he is gonna be the last boss in the last instance that they place in Wrath of the Lich King. Whats this mean?

If you are part of a large raiding guild you shall get to smite Arthas. This does not bother me personally. I realize that Arthas is not “The End” like alot of people cry out. I am well aware that the true end will be the Burning Legion. Those demons gotta go down, Sargeras along with em. But its a step. Killing Arthas is a huge step towards that enevitable ending.

Enough doom and gloom however! Some of the things in Wrath of the Lich King that I am looking foward to: New spells and talents, and the Death Knight.

I will not hide it. When the Deathknight comes, I will be rolling one the instant I can. A Plate Wearing Offensive Spellcaster that can tank and dps? Sign me up! Its like everything I always wanted! High Defense, High Offense! Kinda like the Brute in City of Villains.

The new spells and talents of course make me wonder what sort of madness each of the new classes will be granted. People already complain about how inferior shamans are, how overpowered warriors in PvP are, and ect ect. Its gonna be a whole new slew of whining and crying.

So, what are your thoughts on the new expac?

Whats this? Shakey Monster? Nope its Cloverfield!

Ok, this has nothing to do with a video game, but has plenty to do with me being farking mad! I went and saw Cloverfield last night, late showing at like 11:15pm with my wife, our roomate, and our friend. It was…bad. Well, bad is not the way I would describe it. I can’t really describe it cause I spent a good chunk of the movie with a headache and the feeling of wanting to hurl.

Yea, the camera is bad. Jittery is a good word for it, and is not strong enough. Just THINKING about it makes my head hurt ugh. The characters were very cliched, the camera work was BAD (and done ON PURPOSE WHAT THE HELL WERE THESE RETARDS FUCKIN THINKING?!) and there was very little explanation. It had so much potential, but was ruined by guys who have seen the Blair Witch Project a few too many times I think.

If you watch the trailers, you expect to go see a Monster Movie, in the vein of Godzilla and the like. What you get is a character drama, and a poor one at that. The characters are so freakin cliched and stupid that I was rooting for the monster! Not that you ever get a good shot of him cause, once again, jittery and bad camera! The camera guy is farking stupid (And named HUD, LOL).

If you like Monster Movies, don’t waste your time. This is a “emotional drama” hidden as a monster movie.

They should have put a warning label as well – People prone to motion sickness / epilepsy should not come view this movie. I swear someone is gonna go into an epileptic seizure from this stupid movie.

What a waste of $10.

To Infinity and Beyond

Time to talk about Mass Effect. What to say about this game…what to say. I liked it, that would be true. I am sure if you are interested in it you can find out all the good things about the game, such as the really engaging storyline. The amazing plot, the well defined characters, the awesome mix between RPG/FPS Combat system, and such. The enviroments, the missions, the dialog. All amazing.

So lets talk about the bad/annoying bits. Firstly, the length. I did every subquest but 5 (1 I couldnt finish for some blasted reason, 4 planet exploring ones) and was done with the game in 25 hours. I played being the good guy by the way.

The Elevators. Good god the one on the ship is SLOW! Like it takes a full minute to go up/down one deck. And you can tell. Like you can watch the wall move outside the elevator at a really freakin slow pace.

The equipment / inventory screen. Oh god how I hated it. So confusing.

Beyond that…the game is amazing. You really need to play it through more then once though to get all the achievments and such. At least twice, once being good once being bad.

I can’t wait for the next installment though. Yea, apparently this is gonna be a trilogy. Now, yea I know this review isn’t very long, but I just have to say the game speaks for itself. Rent it. Fans of both RPG’s and FPS’s will be pleased with this bad boy.

This was a Triumph

Hello gentle readers. Its been a while hasn’t it? Yea, I know, I haven’t updated but it was the holidays, and now its the new year! I am gonna do my best to update at least once a week from now on, probebly on Saturdays, and possibly more often then that. I doubt anyone still reads this (if you do, leave a comment so I at least know SOME of you stuck around) but regardless, I am gonna put my thoughts down.

Today, we shall talk about Portal. Purchaseble via the Orange Box for the PC and XBox 360, or seperatly on the PC, the game is fan freakin tastic. Thats right, let me bold it for ya. FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC. Its a First Person Puzzle Game. Odd sounding? Yea, I thought so too. But it is amazing. It uses the Half Life 2 engine to drive the game itself, and while its not the most graphically amazing game out there it still is alot of fun.

The best part has to be the computer, GlaDOS, who runs the tests. GlaDOS will never lie to you, except when she does. Always remember that.

If you have not checked out Portal I highly recommend it. You can get it off Steam for only $20 bucks, and while its a short game (I beat it in one sitting over about 4 hours) its still amazingly fun. I hope they use the same tech they used with this game to make some more.

Next time, I shall review Mass Effect!
