Ok a 3rd Liebster Award Nomination

liebster-award

This was highly unexpected. First, you had my original nomination back when I did book reviews by The Aimless Review. Then about 5 days ago I got nominated again by ParticleBit, and now I am getting nominated a 3rd time by TheWellRedMages.

I need to add this to my awards section over to the side I think hehe

Alright this time I was nominated by the retro loving nerds over at WellRedMage. Lets see what they wanna know.

1. DC or Marvel? (first and foremost) – Marvel. Its what I grew up on. Iron Man, The Fantastic Four, ect.

2. Favorite console? – PC. Sorry folks. Consoles are fine but this is what I grew up on.

3. Favorite video game? – This is like asking me to pick my favorite child. If I had to pick one…it would be Betrayal at Krondor.

4. Favorite character or franchise that needs a comeback? – No earthly clue.

5. Favorite film? – Big Trouble in Little China. Its all in the reflexes.

6. Favorite book? – Whats with you and asking me to pick favorites?! The Sapphire Rose by David Eddings.

7. Favorite non-gaming pasttime? – Reading.

8. Favorite thing about blogging and your blogging goals? (two for the price o’ one!) – I just like writing. I dont really have goals. I cant do ads or anything so I cant support myself from it. I dont really know. I just do it cause I can do it I suppose.

9. Favorite thing you find most inspiring in life? – Truthfully? NO idea.

10. What can The Well-Red Mage blog do to improve? (shameless, hehe) – Just keep up the good consistent work.

11. What’s a game you think I should review? – Crystalis. No one ever gives that game its due damnit!

As normal I am not going to nominate folks because frankly I simply dont know who to do.  All the people I watch and read are awesome and I hate having to try to pick and choose.  If you see this, you are nominated, so just answer the questions below.

  1. Your system of Choice?
  2. Favorite food?
  3. What book do you think I should read?
  4. Favorite form of gaming?
  5. Biggest Gaming Regret?
  6. Favorite Youtube Channel?
  7. Favorite Author?
  8. Favorite Genre of Games?
  9. Favorite Genre of Books?
  10. Do you play Tabletop RPGs?  Which ones?
  11. What should I do to improve?  If anything!

So Liebster Aware Number 2?

liebster-award

So ParticleBit decided to nominate me for the Liebster award.

Which I got back when I did book blogging.

So hey, twice nominated is still pretty damn cool. He had some questions so I figured why not answer em.

Favorite video game console? – PC. I am a PC Gamer. Sorry folks. Nothing wrong with consoles, but PC is my home.

Favorite game on LEAST favorite console? – If I had to choose one…it would be the PS Vita. I had one, I tried to like it, its technically sound but it just feels lacking.

What was the last movie you saw in theaters? – Star Wars the Force Unleashed. I am not a huge theater fan.

Who is your favorite Pokemon? – Tepig and his evolution line. TINY FIRE PIGGY!

Why did you start blogging? – To write. My only talent in life is writing, it seems. My wife is great with art, I have several musician friends, but all I have is writing. For some strange reason.

How long have you been blogging? – On and off for years. I imported my old blog to this one, if you wanna go looking.

How big is your gaming backlog at the moment? – That would imply I plan ahead with my gaming :P Honestly, I jump games so often I dont really have a backlog. I own like 750+ digital games between Origin, Steam, UPlay and GoG :P

What are you doing when aren’t playing a game or working? – Chores. Reading. Thats about it.

What is one interesting, unique fact about yourself most people don’t know? – Uhhhhh I dont really have any?

Eat pizza with your hands or with a fork? – Hands, unless its deep dish.

I am not going to come up with new questions or nominate anyone because I already did that once :P But I will at least answer some stuff :)

2 Week Update! Yesterday’s views were ODD.

So yesterday, 9/29/15, I had my best day for views on here. Which was awesome. I got a total of 83 views, but only had 16 unique visitors. So that was both awesome and a tad confusing. Which one of you was wandering around clicking on all the things, I wonder.

I will never figure out how the visitors and views are connected, I think. I know that unique visitors is the more important stat. That shows how many unique people have shown up, while views can really be messed with. I mean, hell, views might even include my own visits when I am messing around editing things.

Also, my blog has been around for 2 whole weeks! I opened it up on 9/17/15 and its been 14 days (counting 9/17 as Day 1) since I started. That’s really cool, and I am really getting somewhere I think with all this.

Since starting, I have gotten a grand total of:

Unique Visitors: 139
Likes: 145
Followers: 41

Also since starting this whole thing my Twitter followers has increased from the 90ish it was to 113. So that’s a thing that’s occurring.

Other little milestones including the Blogger Awards I have been given, as well as the EGalleys I have been approved for. Hell, I got 2 more approvals yesterday: The Prophecy Con and the Paladin Caper, which are books 2 and 3 of the Rogues of the Republic series, which started with the Palace Job. I requested both and got approved for both so that was awesome (on NetGalley)

I am working on reading A Vanishing Glow by Alexis Radcliff right now, which comes out for sale tomorrow, October 1st. This is the first book I have gotten to review where the author came to me rather then the other way around, so that’s exciting as well!

As of today I have reviewed 10 books/previews as well! And that’s across 36 posts (including this one)

I think I am doing pretty well all things considered! And I feel that things can only get better from here.

Now I just need it to be October 6th so I can get Sword of Summer and Shadows of Self! They will be mine, oh yes, they will be mine….

My first Physical Review Copy!

20150928_190415[1]20150928_190353[1]
So this is really exciting!  Today I got my first ever physical review copy of a book!  In this case its Legacy of Skur by LF Falconer. Which is really awesome. I got it thanks to that Publicist group that had contacted me a bit back. Now what surprises me is the speed at which I got this. I requested this book via email about a week ago, and its already here. I even got a sales sheet and a magnet which was cool. And the book was signed which is even better.  So yea, this is a great milestone especially when my little blog is, what, 2 weeks old at most right now?  Not even that really.

The Liebster Award

So The Aimless Review threw this nomination at me. Guess we shall play the quiz game then folks haha. I was nominated over the weekend but I tend to avoid doing blog stuff then as I spend it relaxing. Rather then working though I suppose.

Apparently, I am asked 10 questions. I suppose I am supposed to ask 10 others when I am done but frankly I am not awake enough for that. The questions asked of me, and my responses are:

1. What is one thing you absolutely cannot live without? (Besides the obvious food, water and oxygen) – My wife. PERIOD.

2. Do you have any interesting hobbies or play a sport? – I dabble in game design on occasion.  Even wrote a Miniatures Wargame once that people can download.

3. What is the craziest thing you have done for a dare? – Got a blowjob in a Walmart at 3am. Yup. Did that when I was 20.

4. You have a whole night to yourself at home and your internet connection is not working. What would you do to keep yourself entertained the rest of the night? – Read. I do have a book blog ya know.

5. What’s your favourite food to cook and why? – Soup. You can make so many variants!

6. If you could move to another country tomorrow and money was no object, where would you move and why? – I have no earthly idea.

7. What’s your favourite TV show at the moment and what keeps you hooked on it? – I dont watch TV. Seriously.

8. Why did you start your blog and what’s your favourite part about blogging? – Connecting with other fans of books. And I started it cause I thought “I could do that”.

9. Your itunes account has been hacked and you can only allowed to listen to one album for the next year. Which one would you choose? – Careless Juja Legend of the Boar Knight.

10. Are you fluent in any languages other than English? Leave me a “hello” in all of them for me, please! – Nope. I speak English.

Now I suppose I am supposed to nominate some folks and things but…eh. If you read this and want to participate consider yourself nominated. I am in a lazy mood today and don’t feel like dealing with it haha. You can just answer the same 10 questions as I did cause they are good ones.

Thanks again to The Aimless Review for the nomination though! :)

The Creative Blogger Award – Nominated by Read It Or Not Reviews

creative blogger awardSo I woke up to this, which was cool, especially considering that I forgot to set my alarm this morning and woke up with 5 minutes to go before I had to leave for work. In those 5 minutes I had to: Check my blood sugar, write it down, get dressed, take my meds, check WordPress real fast, and then get moving.

So seeing this really brightened my day. So again, thanks to TK Lawrence of Read It Or Not Reviews for nominating me for this. I am hitting all sorts of fancy milestones haha.

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
  • Share 5 facts about yourself.
  • Nominate some bloggers in return and notify them about their nomination.
  • Keep the rules in your post to make it easy for everyone to know what to do.

Five Facts about Me, Myself, and I:

  • I am a Type 2 Diabetic, genetically predisposed, and have genetic heart issues.
  • I have been married for 8 years and together for 10 with the same wonderful woman!
  • I wrote a Miniatures Wargame Ruleset once. One of these days I will actually write some fiction for that world.
  • I was born in Yokosuka Japan on a Navel Base, and got to go to the grand opening of Toyko Disney Land in April 1983. I was 11 months old hehe
  • I nearly drowned as a kid at a place called Rock Springs / Kelly Park here in Orlando
  • BONUS FACT! I am bit of a game player…with 500 games on Steam, 100 on GoG, about 70 on Origin, and about 10 on UPlay, and a few more scattered. Recently been playing Skyrim again, modded.

Now I am supposed to nominate some folks…let me see…. Who who who shall I nominate. If you dont want to participate of course don’t feel pressured to, and if you already have done it then great! More then one person thinks you are cool!

Nominations:

Scifi and Scary
Bhaktimotta
Dirty SciFi Buddha
Bookowly
Sara Roethle

Now time to get back to slacking and working. More of the slacking I think. Less of the working hehe.

Another Approval on NetGalley!

This is fascinating to me. Either the authors/publishers are not actually viewing my tiny little blog here…or they are and are deciding to give me a chance based on what little I have talked about. I like to think its the latter, buts its most likely the former haha.  I am under no illusions that I am the new guy on the block here.

I just got approved for Hero Engine by Alexander Nader, published by Booktrope.

The premise of the book sounded interesting so I sent a request. And here we are.

Still working on Deadlands: Ghostwalkers at the moment. 131 out of 418 pages down! I think I can manage to get it done by Monday and have a review up. The whole weekend is open to me, and I aim to use it!

I have only been denied 1 request so far, and honestly I am unsurprised. It was for the UK Version of Shadows of Self and I had requested it without realizing that I sorta kinda had to be in the UK to get it. Obviously, being in Orlando Florida, I am not.

So upcoming reviews, in addition to ones I have queued to go up (yes I do that) are in order:

  • Deadlands: Ghostwalkers by Jonathan Maberry
  • The Palace Job by Patrick Weekes
  • Mystic (Preview Excerpt) by Jason Denzel
  • The Banished of Muirwood by Jeff Wheeler
  • Frivolous Pursuits by DC Farmer
  • Hero Engine by Alexander Nader

Lets have some fun with this shall we?
